This engaging book follows the life of one of the most important figures in the bible and recounts key events such as the burning bush, the ten plagues, the parting of the Red Sea, and the receiving of the Ten Commandments.
Far from being a boring biography, the narrative is engaging and there are plenty of pictures and maps included. Readers, aged 7-12, are also pointed to God’s big picture and will discover how the life of Moses relates to us today.
It was into this nation-within-a nation that a baby was born. This wasn't just any baby, and he didn't grow up to be just any boy. No, this baby was born into the tribe of Levi--one of the sons of Jacob, which would become the tribe of God's priests. One day, this special child named Moses would know God face-to-face.

Now, in the land of Egypt, there were grand palaces with giant statues of pharaohs who ruled before. Towering pyramids held elaborate mazes leading to kingly burial chambers. Egypt was a place of learning where people wrote in pictures, called hieroglyphs, that stood for letters, sounds, or sometimes words. Dentists and doctors put fillings in teeth, set broken bones, diagnosed cancer, and even performed basic brain surgery. The land was also a place of false worship, where the people followed face gods they thought looked like bulls, cows, frogs, and even the sun. In fact, each pharaoh believed he was the god of the sun, born into human flesh. Many of the people of Israel also followed the idols of Egypt. This is something the true God, Yahweh, hates--the worship of creatures, statues, and people.

- God's House (Hebrews 3:1-6)
- God Hears Our Cry (Exodus 2:23b-24)
- The Law Points to Jesus (John 5:46-47)
- Character Matters (Numbers 12:3)
- The Best Promise of All (Acts 26:22-23)

Christian History Matters for Our Kids.
History matters. Now, more than ever, we see how important it is for our children to know and understand history and the Bible. Here's why:
- God is the sovereign ruler of all things. It's important for our kids to see his hand in the history of nations and in the lives of both peasants and kings.
- Christian history is the story of our family history. Our kids get to see how people who love Jesus follow him.
- Understanding history can help our kids learn historic and biblical theology. They learn what the Bible says and what that means for us. They also see when the study of Scripture has taken important turns that have changed the Church.
- Reading Christian biographies and history can be a wonderful way for kids to think outside their own time and culture. God's Church spans centuries and includes people from every nation.
- Christian biographies help kids consider their own faith, walk with Jesus, and the impact their witness may one day have on others--and on history.
Elementary-aged kids need middle grade resources that are fun, a little sassy, and that teach valuable lessons.
The Who What Why Series is the perfect resource to teach your kids about history, while helping them apply biblical truths to their lives today.
Another wonderful book from Danika! She has a great writing style that makes it easy to read and understand the concepts! Love this book for kids of all ages! I love that she includes Bible verses and shows how it relates to our lives. The drawings are a wonderful addition as well! I would highly recommend this!
This book is an interesting and easy to read chapter book that goes into the details of Moses’s life and his contributions. It also explains how the things that happened with Moses point to Jesus. There is a great timeline in the back that helps you understand how Moses’s life fits in with other Biblical and historical events.
Kids can learn about the Exodus of the Israelites in Danika Cooley's newest three books in her Who, What, Why Series. Who was Moses?, What was the Tabernacle?, and Why Did the Exodus Happen? Are easy to understand and perfect for children to learn more about God through the stories of His people and the Bible.
Danika uses the English Standard Version Bible to quote verses and she does an excellent job pointing kids to Jesus and His sacrifice for us with each book topic.
Each book has approximately 90 pages. There's no assigned number of pages for your child to read every day, so you and your child can take each book at his/her own pace. There are plenty of black and white pictures that go along well with each topic.
I love the free downloadable and printable lapbook elements that you can get for each book. They make the information really stick while the child does their hands-on activities. These lapbooks will be treasures for your child to look at in the future.
I highly recommend Danika Cooley's Who, What, Why: Exodus series to any Christian family that wants their children to learn more about the Exodus, and also to any children church or Sunday school teacher who needs a quick lesson and project.
I love learning how God works his story together! This book does an amazing job sharing how God was working through all Moses' life and circumstances to prepare him to shepherd God's chosen people and write HIS story. I quickly read through it myself but can't wait to read it to my children!
If children are going to understand the Bible, they need to know the story of Moses. This book is good because it incorporates historical context as well as New Testament insights. I also enjoyed the illustrations. They fit the book well.
