The Parable of the Hidden Treasure and the Parable of the Pearl

Read Matthew 13:44-46 as a family before you begin your craft. In the ESV, Matthew 13:44-46 says:

“The kingdom of heaven is like treasure hidden in a field, which a man found and covered up. Then in his joy he goes and sells all that he has and buys that field. “Again, the kingdom of heaven is like a merchant in search of fine pearls, who, on finding one pearl of great value, went and sold all that he had and bought it."

As you make your craft, discuss:

What did the man sacrifice to buy the field that held the hidden treasure?
What did the merchant sacrifice to purchase the one pearl of great value?
How valuable is the kingdom of heaven?
Read Ephesians 2:8-9. We cannot purchase our earn our salvation. It is a gift from God.
What is Jesus helping us understand with these two parables?

Talk about what it means to follow Jesus. Is it necessary to give anything in your life up in order to glorify King Jesus in your life?
