Jesus once taught a short story (Matthew 7:24-27) about a wise man who built his house on a rock. Another man--a foolish man--built his house on sand. During an intense storm, the house on rock stood--but the house built on sand fell.
I live on the coast and I've seen houses slide off of hills or fall down cliffs to the beach below. Jesus said, "and great was the fall of it." (Mt 7:27b, ESV) It's true. A house collapsing as its foundation slides from beneath it is devastating. Not just property, but lives are at stake.
Jesus told the people listening to him--and now us--that the one who hears his words and does them is like the wise man who built his house on a solid foundation. The house on sand? It's built by the foolish man who doesn't do God's words. We find the inspired words of God in the Bible.
You want to teach the Bible to your kids. It's so important our kids are like the wise man, building their house on the Rock!

You want to teach the Bible...
As parents, we deeply desire the best for our kids. We look for the right schools, we make them eat right and exercise, and we get them involved in extracurricular activities. We take our job as parents seriously.
But are we also putting our time and energy into teaching them the Bible? Giving them the life-changing, soul-nourishing words of Scripture is not only doable, it’s an essential part of parenting kids for Jesus. And the good news is, studying God’s Word as a family doesn’t have to be difficult!
2 Timothy 2:15, ESV, says:
Do your best to present yourself to God as one approved, a worker who has no need to be ashamed, rightly handling the word of truth.
Our job, as parents who love Jesus, is to help our kids become approved workers, unashamed and rightly handling the word of truth.
The good news? Teaching the Bible isn’t hard. Your family can learn the Bible together.
...and you can!
