Jesus Calms the Storm Craft

Before you begin your craft, read Matthew 8:23-27. In the ESV, it says:

And when he got into the boat, his disciples followed him. And behold, there arose a great storm on the sea, so that the boat was being swamped by the waves; but he was asleep. And they went and woke him, saying, “Save us, Lord; we are perishing.” And he said to them, “Why are you afraid, O you of little faith?” Then he rose and rebuked the winds and the sea, and there was a great calm. And the men marveled, saying, “What sort of man is this, that even winds and sea obey him?”

Talk about:

• Most of Jesus' disciples were seasoned fishermen. They were used to storms. How bad must this storm have been to make them think they were about to drown?
• Was Jesus afraid?
• What did Jesus ask the disciples?
• What did Jesus do?
• How did the disciples respond?
• Read Hebrews 1:1-2. The wind and waves obeyed Jesus. They were also created by him!

The story of how Jesus calms the storm helps us understand just how mighty God the Son truly is. Even nature obeys him!
